Mindanao Displacement Dashboard, September 2016
In the island provinces of Basilan and Sulu, a combined total of more than 40,000 persons (8,194 families) have been displaced due to ongoing military operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), including people who had been displaced by earlier clashes. On 03 September, over 2,500 Indigenous Peoples (IPs) returned to various lumad communities in Surigao del Sur, after a year of displacment in Tandag, Surigao del Sur. In addition, 26 families (around 70 persons) left the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Haran compound in Davao City and proceeded to a transitional site in Barangay Sangay, Kitaotao, Bukidnon, in preparation for their eventual safe return to their habitual residences in Barangay White Culaman, within the same municipality. Meanwhile, IDPs who were affected by typhoon Pablo in Eastern and Northern Mindanao, as well as those who were displaced by the 2013 Zamboanga City siege, continue to seek durable solutions four years and three years, respectively, after being displaced.
