Mindanao Displacement Dashboard October 2015
As of October 2015, 33,539 families (estimated 169,501 persons) remain in need of durable solution. The bulk of this displacement accounts for displaced population due to Typhoon Bopha (Pablo) in Region XI, conflict and violence in Region XII and the Zamboanga displacement in Region IX. Protection monitoring is ongoing to constantly monitor these incidents and ensure that the remaining IDPs could return or locally integrate safely and with dignity.
In October 2015 alone, 6 incidents resulted to the displacement of 267 families (estimated 2,316 persons) in Agusan del Sur, Basilan, Maguindanao and Surigao del Sur provinces in Caraga and ARMM regions. Harassment of armed groups including paramilitary groups in eastern Mindanao and conflict due to contending control over land in the south are the causes of displacement.
