Profiling of Internal Displacement and Sama Bajau as Population at Risk of Statelessness in the Island Provinces of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
The IDP Profiling exercise was conducted last November 2019 in close collaboration with the Profiling Working Group (PWG), the Joint IDP Profiling Service (JIPS), and Integrated Resource Development for Tri-People (IRDT). This activity aims to obtain a solid information about the protection situation of the IDPs to better inform the most appropriate and relevant humanitarian and development interventions for the most vulnerable displaced population in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi provinces, in support to developing local capacities for planning and implementation of humanitarian response in BARMM. Likewise, the Sama Bajau Profiling exercise outlines the key findings and recommendations from the profiling exercises of Sama Bajaus in Bongao Municipality, Tawi-Tawi Province. The Sama Bajau is one of the State-identified populations at risk of statelessness in the Philippines due to their itinerant lifestyle and generations of non-registration of birth.
